Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.
City officials said they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for information.
An important representative said the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
