🔗 Share this article UN:Me: An Cerebral Horror Merging Survival Horror and Among Us Mechanics The latest Day of the Devs digital showcase revealed a number of fascinating upcoming titles, but one in particular has seized attention: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player experience seems to blend the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill title with the suspicion-driven heart of Among Us. "It's a distinctive game where a girl containing multiple human souls inside her needs to flee from a labyrinth of the psyche," states producer Yasukazu Kawai. Entering a Fractured Mind In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of teenage years. Inside her exist four distinct souls, all possessing their own anxieties and drives. These souls can take over spontaneously, releasing their deep-seated phobias upon her suddenly. Based on showcased gameplay, much of the action takes place within a creepy hospital, while other scenes show the main character exploring a desolate church. An Environment of Individual Horror "What are you afraid of? What causes you uncomfortable?" asks creative lead Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Confined spaces. People in power. Elements that appear minor to others can activate a deep instinct within us. This game delves into that concept — anxieties that are specific to every individual." The central mechanic involves controlling whichever soul emerges at any given time. However, these souls will change against your will during gameplay. During exploration, every persona's anxieties become amplified and attack the girl in succession. When the soul shifts, so does the particular terror the player encounters. Eerie Aesthetics and a Deadly Decision At first glance, UN:Me displays noticeable visual similarities with the Silent Hill franchise. The hospital is populated by orderlies who all share the identical visage, with disturbingly broad grins. Patients in the waiting room have enormous flowers where their necks should be. Flowers are a recurring element, contrasting natural beauty with supernatural dread. Yet, UN:Me presents a unique mechanic. Players must determine which of the four souls haunting the protagonist is the "real" one. "All four souls claims that the body belongs to them," notes a developer. "During the game, you must determine who is real." After a player believes a persona is fake, they are forced to destroy it. However, since every entity can deceive or hide the reality, it is incredibly simple to choose incorrectly. "Maybe you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," the narration suggests. "The final entity standing might be a fake. In any case, your decisions are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a publicly announced launch window, but it is available to wishlist on platforms.
