Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, even if the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a adored, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.

The streaming service revealed this week that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Bon Clay. The role possesses the power to transform into an exact copy of anyone they’ve touched with their right hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that figure reinterpreted as non-binary, instead of as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the source material and animated series.

Escola is joined by several other new cast members tasked with bringing Baroque Works to life, including head the main antagonist, played by the seasoned performer, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the lineup as the ruler of the fictional land.

Even though this character is a major member of the group, the individual will be introduced in One Piece season 3. Considering season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this represents a major departure in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal more adjustments to the story’s structure.
