The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to develop a tabletop RPG set within the series' post-pandemic landscape. The project was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a new way to experience The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an announcement.

Initial offerings are set to feature a beginner's box, essential manuals, a GM screen, figurines, and various premium versions.

Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this setting, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was released in NYC, sending the United States into turmoil. As the crisis worsens, society crumbles and violent factions rise, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. This is where the players come in.

Work on the RPG has been in progress for about several years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to access a wider market, particularly in North America. Manufacturing is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping expected for later in 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the game's rules confirms it uses d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic approach. Agents leverage skills or traits to roll small dice pools, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, participants select a single “result die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 triggers special effects, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Engagements Emphasize Tactical Placement and Awareness

Fights prioritize placement and situational awareness, mirroring the video games. Elements like cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence success chances. This mechanic seems built to favor teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.

A Thematic Health System

The way health is managed introduces a interesting thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At critical condition, an operative collapses, but is not unconscious.
  2. They may still crawl and take limited actions, simulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, risking lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Scenario

A free introductory rulebook will be released soon. It includes a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers faction, who have taken over that Manhattan district. More specifics and the complete product lineup are expected to be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
