Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their first Fall Classic following 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.

Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh inning, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.

"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, our country," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "This is such an amazing experience."

The veteran has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another player anywhere that I want up in that spot except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the one club never to appear in a championship series.

Wilson said "certainly that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.

Toronto's team secured the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
